How to use the age on another planet

Express elapsed Earth time as orbital years on one selected planet and estimate the next orbital birthday.

Formula or method

Elapsed Earth days since the birth date are divided by the selected planet’s approximate orbital period.

Worked examples

Age 24 on Mercury

A 24-year-old on Earth is about 100 Mercury orbital years old because Mercury circles the Sun in about 88 Earth days.

Age 24 on Mars

The same person is a little under 13 Mars orbital years old.

Next Jupiter birthday

A Jupiter birthday occurs only about once every 11.86 Earth years.

Frequently asked questions

Does planetary age mean biological age?

No. It only expresses elapsed Earth time as a number of planetary orbits.

Why am I older on Mercury?

Mercury completes an orbit much faster than Earth, so more Mercury years pass during the same elapsed time.

Why am I younger on outer planets?

Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus and Neptune take many Earth years to complete one orbit.

How is the next orbital birthday estimated?

The tool finds the next whole multiple of the selected planet’s orbital period after your birth date.

Limitations

Planetary age describes completed orbits, not biological aging.
