Rank third-place teams across World Cup groups
The expanded 48-team World Cup format includes 12 groups. In addition to the top two teams from each group, the best third-place teams can advance to the Round of 32. This creates a separate comparison table across all groups.
Enter each third-place team’s name, points, goal difference and goals scored. The tool ranks the rows by those values and highlights the top eight positions as provisional qualifiers.
What this tool is good for
- Testing third-place qualification scenarios.
- Understanding why goal difference matters.
- Comparing groups before the final matchday.
- Running a similar 12-group community tournament.
Official qualification caution
The tournament regulations determine every tiebreaker and the Round of 32 matchup combinations. This tool provides a simplified ranking based on points, goal difference and goals scored. If teams remain tied, consult the official regulations and standings.
Because the calculation uses values you enter, it does not need a live sports feed and cannot silently display outdated scores. Record the date and source of the standings when sharing a result.
